Here the diagnosis is the opposite of the Metropolitano’s. We counted every food venue around both venues and the result is stark: 121 places to eat within a 450-metre radius of the Movistar Arena, against a near-total void around the stadium.
In other words: you are not going hungry. What you do need to sort out are two other things: price, because you are in the middle of the Salamanca district, and timing, because many kitchens in the area close before you get out of the concert.
How to read this guide
We tell you what is there and where it is, not the opening hours or the exact prices. Restaurant hours and menus change without notice, and we would rather not hand you a figure that is probably out of date by the time you read it. No sponsored links and no deals with any venue here: just judgement.
The rule of the neighbourhood
The affordable options are not on Avenida de Felipe II or on the smart stretch of Goya. They are on the streets behind it, and in the chains. The difference between the two, in this area, can be twenty euros a head for a similar dinner.
Two minutes from the venue
On Calle de Goya, almost at the door, is Los Torreznos, a Castilian tapas bar that is about as good as it gets for the combination of closeness and price. It is the obvious choice if you want to eat without walking far.
On Avenida de Felipe II itself you have 100 Montaditos and La Sureña, the area’s two budget chains. Do not expect anything memorable, but they are predictable, cheap and literally next door. That is what the options come down to once you leave the concert.
If you would rather eat beforehand
NAP, Neapolitan pizza on Calle del General Díaz Porlier, about eight minutes on foot. It comfortably fits the budget and is one of the most reliable places in the area for value. Because it is a little further, it works better as a before-the-show plan than an after-the-show one.
Two that go over budget
In case you come across them while looking: El Pescaíto and La Barra de la Tasquería, both on Calle Duque de Sesto, are very close by and are good, but play in a different price league. They do not fit the criteria of this guide.
The strategy that works
For this venue the recommendation is clear: eat beforehand. You have 121 options within five minutes and plenty of time between arriving in the neighbourhood and doors opening. After the concert the options shrink to the Felipe II chains, and doing it the other way round means choosing from whatever is still open.
In short, if you read one thing
Head into the streets behind Goya instead of staying on the avenue, and eat before the concert. If you come out hungry, the Felipe II chains are your safety net.
